What we’ve done so far on our summer break:
- Celebrated Sammi’s 10th birthday with a small family celebration on the day, and a special day with her BFF a few weeks later
- Taken an overnight trip to Stone Harbor, NJ, to visit with friends who were renting a beach house
- Taken our annual 2-night girls-only trip to Rehoboth Beach, DE
- Watched one of the movies on my list of movies to watch this summer (Strictly Ballroom)
- Picked black raspberries twice at the local orchard
- Gone to the pool once (just Sammi and me)

There’s a very big batch of new pictures up — these are all from a single day, upon which the girls got inspired to do a really nice photoshoot. I have not been able to get them to do another one like this since. More’s the pity…

The girlies had their yearly eye exams this morning. Sammi’s eyes have gotten significantly better, so much so that she needs new glasses. This makes her very happy, because she’s been angling for new glasses for some time. She picked out some cool new frames and they’ll be ready in a week or two (the lenses are kinda special-order, so they’ll take a bit longer than they normally would). Alice’s eyes have gotten somewhat worse, which means that we need to really get our act together about getting her to patch again. She spent several years of her childhood doing vision therapy and patching for amblyopia. All that work made a huge difference, but we apparently cannot rest on our laurels indefinitely. *sigh* Getting a 14-year-old to wear an eyepatch for an hour is a much less simple task than getting an 8-year-old to do it, let me tell you. We’re gonna do it, though. Yeah. She did 45 minutes tonight, while she played games on Facebook. We’re gonna do this thing!!! *fist pump*

School’s out!!! Whooo!!
Sammi’s birthday is in 3 days! You still have time to buy her a present if you pay for 2-day shipping!! (Oh, I am so subtle…)
The cats, well, the cats are kinda better but not all better. I’m trying to go against my essential instincts and stop poking at the problem for a while. They get the second dose of wormer in a week, and they’re eating digestive support food, and whatever’s going on can keep going for now without my input.
