Alice found this recipe in a book. It's incredibly easy to make this cake -- if you do the measuring, even a toddler can do the "work!" The end result is a dense, moist cake that tastes lovely plain, but would also go nicely with some powdered sugar, chocolate glaze, freshly whipped cream, or sliced fruit.
½ C butter
1¼ C sugar
1¼ C sifted flour
2 eggs
½ C milk
1 tsp vanilla
1 tsp baking soda
½ tsp salt
Preheat oven to 350°. Butter a 9" round pan.
Mix all the ingredients together in a bowl. Pour into prepared pan and bake for 30-35 minutes.
Eat warm with a glass of milk.
